About the Author

As a graduate of the UCSD School of medicine original EMS program, the author was one of his state's first paramedics; was appointed the first San Diego EMS supervisor under Mayor (and then governor) Pete Wilson's administration; created that city's STAR team (special trauma & rescue); co-authored the National Waterpark Lifeguard Training Manual; has worked as a set medic on such movies as "Unbreakable" and "Planet of the Apes," and provided medical services for talent such as Engelbert Humperdinck and the Commodores. Since 1985 this author and guest speaker has collected thousands of outlandish physician behavior anecdotes. He writes, "I actually waited decades for someone else to do this. That 25% of our doctors have been documented as either 'questionable' or 'dangerous' is ludicrous. Thousands are merely odd. But too many are sociopathic. And we thought you might like to know a little more about them."
